Here is what happened: I was updating my Linksys WRT54GS router with the firmware and it finished fine (saying UPDATE SUCCESSFUL), but since then I am unable to connect to my router. I want to revert back to my old Linksys firmware, but I don't know how to do it, when I can't access it.

I can manage to upgrade the firmware on my broadband router, just the Cisco Systems Logo keeps always with a orange light on, and some times doesnt allow me to log into the web administration thingy. everytime it happens, i have to run the for autorestore the old 3.x firmware and the orange light goes off.

XXX address, or access the web admin, try manually assigning your computers LAN IP address to the same IP range as the routers.
If it flashes fine this way, set your computers TCP back to the way it was, and proceed.

Being configured this way, the devices will assume SSIDs of linksys_SES_XXXXX where XXXXX appears to be a random number.
